Despite the fact that Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett seemed to have moved past Baskett's explosive scandal, sources have stated that their marriage was "forever impacted" by it. 

The couple, who are now calling it quits after nine years of marriage, had been vocal about their marital problems a few months prior to the announcement.

An Unhealed Marital Wound

Many may remember when Baskett was caught with a transgender prostitute in 2014 while Wilkinson was 8 months pregnant with their daughter. The scandal made headlines and almost destroyed the couple's marriage at the time.

"I messed up. I put myself in a bad situation. And everything through me brought pain upon this family," the athlete stated of the incident. 

Following the scandal, the couple joined the cast for Marriage Reality Booty Camp to fix their marital problems after their daughter was born. The couple seemed to be back on track and the incident reportedly made them stronger than ever, however it wasn't enough to save their marriage.

Kendra Tried Her Best

Sources close to Wilkinson also stated that the former Playmate tried her best to make the marriage work following Baskett's infidelity. However, she was heartbroken by his betrayal and couldn't get over her husband's deception. 

"She's always been someone who wanted to be fully committed, married forever, and was definitely a 'I'll never get a divorce' kind of girl, but she really lost trust in her marriage and she's realized there's no turning back," the source stated. 

Since the news of their impending divorce have hit headlines, the couple is now focused on making the transition as easy as possible for their two children, Alijah and Hank IV.

"They're still talking, but it's mostly for the kids. It's really important to both of them that they don't traumatize the kids. They're going to try their best to have a graceful separation," the source continued. 

The former couple married in June 2009 at the Playboy Mansion after dating for over a year. News of their divorce made headlines after Wilkinson posted several pictures of herself without her wedding ring.
