Former couple Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer reunite for a humorous take on the iconic Grant Wood painting titled "American Gothic."

Meyer, 40, shared the photo on her Instagram account, showing herself and her ex-husband mimicking the famous painting behind them. It's an impressive parody of the artwork with the luxury jewelry designer staring morosely at the grumpy Maguire, 42.

"Spring break," she wrote as the caption.

 

Wood's 1930 painting usually hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago, but it's currently being shown in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

Maguire and Meyer's expressions in the photo are uncanny, but what's even more impressive is how at ease with each other the former couple continues to be.

The Seabiscuit actor married Meyer in 2007. The pair has two children together: Ruby, 11, and Otis, 8.

In October 2016, they announced their plans of separation. The two have remained friendly since the announcement, even spending time together regularly. Just last month, Maguire and Meyer were spotted grabbing a bite with another friend at E. Baldi in Beverly Hills.

"He's my best friend," the jewelry designer tells Us Weekly last January. "He's the greatest ex-husband a girl could ever have."

However, don't hold out hope for a reconciliation.

"Their relationship is much better," a source explains to People in December 2017, after the actor showed up to support his estranged wife's jewelry launch. "But they're definitely not reconciling."

Maguire found success as an actor, but his last role was a voice acting role in The Boss Baby in 2017. He is currently credited as producer in upcoming films The Best of Enemies and Brittany Runs a Marathon.

Getting along with the ex-partner seems to be the trend in Hollywood, especially for couples who share kids.

The most well-known couple who display extraordinary closeness is Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who famously declared their "conscious uncoupling" in 2014 after 10 years together.

Despite being with different partners now, the couple-turned-friends are still spotted together regularly, usually with their children. When Martin recently celebrated his birthday, Paltrow posted a sweet birthday message to him on Instagram, calling him her "brother."

A more recently broken-up couple who still spend time together is Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. The estranged couple are often snapped with their three children outside, even going on a family vacation.

Other celebrity ex-couples who have stayed close include Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom, and Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez.
