Singer R. Kelly shut the Nokia stage down at the 2013 BET Awards show Sunday night.

The 46-year-old Chicago native had the crowd to their feet when he appeared in a spiked jacket and hat. He performed some throwback songs, including When A Woman's Fed Up, Bump and Grind, and Ignition.

Other performers of the night included Chris Brown who opened the show, performing Fine China, They Don't Know featuring Aaliyah and a new song with Nicki Minaj.

Kendrick Lamar hit the stage with a special performance with Erykah Badu. The duo performed B**** Don't Kill My Vibe.

Singer Miguel took home the first award for the night. He thanked his fans, team and girlfriend as he accepted the best male R&B pop artist, beating out Brown, Usher, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars.

"I got to really give it up to all the other guys in this category," the singer said.

Don Cheadle presented Miguel with the award, and dedicated the night to Nelson Mandela, who's been reported to be in critical condition.

"We want to take a moment and send our prayers and thoughts to a man who literally changed the world," he said. "This evening we would like offer prayers and support and hope to the extraordinary Nelson Mandela and his family."
