Avril Lavigne was a punk rock princess wearing a black wedding dress as she and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger exchanged vows in the South of France Monday.

Hello! Canada exclusively reported that Lavigne, 28, wore a black tulle Monique Lhuillier gown and donned a bouquet of black roses.

The pair wed outside the Château de la Napoule, a 14th century castle in Mandelieu. The ceremony was just a small part of a three-day celebration that kicked off with a rehearsal dinner in Cannes Saturday night, E! News reported.

The two singers were surrounded by 50 of their closest friends and family. In a nod to their native country, the wedding took place on July 1, Canada Day.

When the ceremony was over, guests were treated to a buffet of locally caught lobster, sea bass and beef which was washed down with "endless glasses" of Laurent-Perrier champagne, E! News reported.

The pair got together last February when Kroeger contributed to Lavigne's latest album, Here's To Never Growing Up.

Kroeger proposed last August – presenting his fiancée with an impressive 14-carat diamond ring.

This is the second marriage for Lavigne, who was wed to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley for three years before their divorce. It is Kroeger's first marriage.
