After Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron-Man died in Avengers: Endgame, hopes of an RDJ reunion with Tom Holland's Spider-Man have been put to rest. However, that doesn't mean we won't get to see the two work in other movies outside the MCU!

Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland, in fact, have joined forces again in Dolittle!

Of course, fans will not be seeing Iron-Man's armor or Spider Man's suit. Instead, RDJ will play as Doctor Dolittle, while Hollan will be the sidekick dog named Jip.

Doctor Dolittle boasts with all-star voice actors and actresses, including Harry Collet (Doctor Dolittle's young apprentice), Rami Malek (gorilla), Octavia Spencer (duck), Kumail Nanjiani (ostrich), John Cena (polar bear), and Emma Thompson (parrot). Antonio Banderas will also play the role of an antagonist in the film.

With Stephen Gaghan as the director, the fantasy comedy film was originally set to be released in 2017. The release was moved toMay 2019 before Universal decided to move it again to April in order to avoid the competition with Avengers: Endgame. The final date has been moved again to 2020.

Universal Pictures stated on the film synopsis that Dolittle is based on the classic story about the journey of a man who encounters far-from-reality animals as he travels to save the Queen of England.

Part of the official synopsis is below:

"After losing his wife seven years earlier, the eccentric Dr. John Dolittle, famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria's England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle is forced to set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, regaining his wit and courage as he crosses old adversaries and discovers wondrous creatures

MPC is also reported to be responsible for the photorealistic appearances of the animals in the film. Some of MPC's works include "The Jungle Book" and "The Lion King," which both received positive reviews for successfully producing almost-real graphics.

On October 12, the official Twitter page of Dolittle Movie posted that Doctor Dolittle 'is not a people person".

The animal whisperer, Dolittle, will be welcomed in theaters on January 17, 2020. This serves as the first major role of Downey since his character's death (Iron Man/Tony Stark) in the Avengers: Endgame. However, there are rumors that RDJ will returning as Tony Stark in Black Widow.

Tony Stark to Appear in Black Widow?

After his death in the Endgame, fans hoped RDJ would still appear in "Spider-Man: Far from Home." However, what they only saw was memento of him.

In the search for his next appearance in the next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, people are now speculating that he will play a role in the solo Black Widow film, albeit in AI form.

The official statement is yet to be released, but an odd cameo of Downey in MCU would definitely be a welcome surprise!
