Bella Thorne made headlines recently after making her direcorial debut for an adult film -- which she actually won an award for. However, it isn't the first time that the actress made waves for controversial reasons.

Today, we look back at some of her most controversial moments that broke the internet.

1. Calling Out Ex-Boyfriend Mod Sun "Press Hungry"

Bella called quits with boyfriend Mod Sun on April 2019. In her Instagram post, the former Disney star revealed that she and her rapper bf have parted years after dating for one year.

"I will always love you. All good things must come to an end."

However, things got weird when the rapper joked about selling his ex-girlfriend's stuff on eBay. While Sun indicated that it was a joke, Thorne tweeted out, "Looks like moddy really wants some press. #hungry also did u call the cops on me when I wanted my computer?"

It was then revealed that Thorne went to Sun's home without an invitation after their breakup. He claimed that she was not "trustworthy," hinting that the red-head celebrity was unfaithful.

2. Sexually and Physically Abused When Younger

The now film director opened up about her childhood sexual abuse in a heartbreaking poem for her new book. She said she was abused from six until 14 years old and felt ashamed and disgusting.

In 2018, Bella Thorne's mom denied any knowledge of the shocking abuse her daughter went through under her roof.

"It's a private matter, and I only just found out now."

3. Boycotting Teen Choice Awards

During the 2018 Teen Choice Awards, Thorne was nominated for Choice Drama Movie Actress for "Midnight Sun" and Choice Drama TV Actress for "Famous in Love."

In a tweet, she said that the awards show was "gross," and the point of voting against "each other is .. it f---s with kids heads like a beauty competition."

She added that the "Vote for the Hottest" portion was disgusting. Thorne then suggested that it should be "Vote for the Smartest," "Choice Changemaker," and even "Favorite Charity Category."

4. Her "Engagement"

In May 2018, Thorne dodged a question asking if she was married or not. She answered, "This is for my own personal knowledge and none for you."

She and her then-boyfriend announced an engagement at that time, taking to Instagram and showing off a ring on her ring finger.

They didn't push through with their relationship in the end.

5. Her Relationship with Both Tana Mongeau and Mod Sun

In 2018, Thorne spoke positively about her connection with both Mongeau and Sun, touching on their respective open relationships and why they don't like labeling it.

It wasn't clear what kind of throuple situation is it or if Mod and Tana, at that time, had lovers. Mongeau and Thorne split in February 2019 following a tweet that wrote, "Tana and I aren't together anymore, pls stop asking. We love U guys."

6. Coming Out as Bisexual in 2016 but Later Said She was Pansexual

In December 2016, Thorne came out as bisexual.

However, in June 2019, she said, she's actually a pansexual and didn't know that. "I like sexy girls; I like sexy guys. I like sexy in general."

7. Getting Backlash Over Her Makeup Brand 'Thorne'

Thorne dropped two eyeshadow palettes, and fans were not happy. Reports claimed that she's accused of stealing ideas from the beauty brand "Juvia's Place."

The owner of the brand, Chichi Eburu, said that there are similarities across every spectrum, but they need to keep pushing forward. She accused Bella's team of not doing enough research and should learn from their experience.

In a tweet, Thorne responded with, "I'm supposed to look up every palette every made? I bet we have the same manufacturer."

8. Leaking Her Nudes

"For the last 24 hours, I have been threatened with my own nudes. It's my decision now. You don't get that to take yet another thing from me."

Thorne tweeted that in June 2019 after posting screenshots of her conversations with a hacker, who said they have videos and pictures of her. Bella one-upped the hacker by releasing her nudes before they do.

9. Teaching People How to "Torture the Skin."

Many people reacted badly after seeing Thorne's beauty routine. Comments like "a hot mess" to "horrible" were posted on Reddit, Twitter and Youtube.

Beauty lovers voiced their concerns over Thorne not having moisturizer and using a harsh exfoliant like sugar, acidic lemon juice and so much more.

10. X-rated Director for Pornhub

Not only has she came out with a porn movie, Bella Thorne is an award-winning porn director at the 2nd Pornhub Awards.
