Popstar royalty Katy Perry is now being sued for $150,000 over a controversial Instagram post of herself dressing up as Hillary Clinton for Halloween in 2016.

According to reports, Backgrid photo agency is claiming that the singer did not have permission to post the said photo on Instagram.

Katy as Hillary

Celebrities and famous people have flaunted their own costumes and getups for this year's Halloween season in different social media platforms and Halloween parties. Although fans might have guessed some of what they are wearing, one of the most outstanding getups every year was always from Katy Perry.

Katy has always been a dedicated Halloween doer, and she rocks every single costume she gets herself into. However, Katy's Halloween costume three years ago -- during which she dressed up as Hillary Clinton and even went on full prosthetics -- is a hot issue now.

According to reports, Katy Perry did not get permission to grab the photo and post in on her feed. The photo was reportedly from the photo agency Backgrid. Per E! Online, a source said that the photo agency is now going for the singer who did not pay the agency to license the photo.

Not the Only One

With this paparazzi photo issue going around, Katy is not the first and only person who was sued with the same case by photo agencies.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid also had the same experience and was sued for the same reason. The model shared in one of her Instagram stories her experience with lawsuits against photo agencies and stated that her management informed her that she is being legally pursued for her recent Instagram post (which, by now, has been deleted).

The photo was taken by a paparazzi and showed her on the street outside an event.

Gigi focused her Instagram story post on how the paparazzi is "legally" making money on celebrities like her by stalking them day and night, wherever they are going and whatever they are doing. The model fully understands that this is the paparazzi's way of making a living, but she believes there is a line in between that both celebrities and paparazzi should understand and respect.

Also, a few weeks ago, the same situation happened to singer and artist Jennifer Lopez after she posted a cute photo of her and boyfriend Alex Rodriguez. She is also being sued for $150,000 by photo the agencies Splash News and Picture Agency.

Katy and Jennifer have not released any statement against the filed copyright infringement.
