Dwight Howard's former Lakers teammates Kobe Bryant and Paul Gasol as well as Hollywood's television executives took shots at the NBA big man after he announced he is leaving Los Angeles to play for the Houston Rockets.

"I've decided to become a member of the Houston Rockets. I feel its the best place for me and I am excited about joining the Rockets and I'm looking forward to a great season. I want to thank the fans in Los Angeles and wish them the best," Howard tweeted.

The 27-year-old also changed his profile picture to a photo in which he is sporting a Houston Rockets Jersey.

In response, Howard's former teammates Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol unfollowed the three-time Defensive Player of the Year on Twitter, although as of now, Gasol is once again following the Rockets big man.

Bryant also posted a picture on his Instagram of Gasol embracing him during a game with the hashtags "#vamos #juntos #lakercorazon #vino." (Spanish for "let's go," "together," and "Laker heart,")

Howard responded by posting his own picture on Instagram, which featured the former Laker standing next to his new Houston Rockets teammate James Harden.

Several members of Hollywood's television industry also joined the social media feud by posting status updates about their dismay regarding Howard's decision to leave the Southern California franchise.

"I guess Dwight goes down as biggest bust in lakers history. And I guess lakers start 2014 as the worst team in then western conference," Entourage creator Doug Ellin wrote on Twitter.

Another television series producer had some choice words fo the seven-time NBA All-Star.

"Very excited to hear where Dwight Howard plans to be uninspired and not ever win a title next," Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence tweeted.

Houston was amongst five major contenders in the running to sign Howard, including Dallas, Golden State, Atlanta and Los Angeles. With his departure from the Lakers, the team's future is one filled with uncertainty.
