Justin Bieber is apparently sending his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez a subliminal message.

The two posed close together in a photo that Bieber uploaded on Instagram on Friday. He captioned the photo "#heartbreaker." The safest assumption is that Bieber is talking about Gomez whom he dated for about two years. The young couple broke up in early January.

Heartbreaker, however, is also the title of his next single.

The singer posted the single's cover on his Instagram on Wednesday. The cover art depicts a purple heart falling to pieces and Cupid in the process of shooting his arrow at it. The 19-year-old captioned that photo, "It's gonna happen suddenly."

Bieber's manager Scooter Braun spoke about his new album and single with MTV in an article publised on July 1.

"I'll just tell you that we're gonna release music it in a very, very different way with him," he said. "And people and fans should be very excited for the end of this year because he's just written so many songs on the road. And we decided there needs to be a way to release these songs in a different way than the normal album and be able to allow him to express himself in music while dealing with so many different bullsh-- stories every single day."

The song will also discuss Bieber's recent negative publicity, his manager said.

In June, for example, Bieber's neighbors called the cops on him and his friends because of bad behavior, according to a TMZ report.

A few months prior, in March, the singer was accused of assaulting another Los Angeles neighbor after the two reportedly had an argument, according to USA Today.

Still, Bieber has disregarded his bad press.

"Interesting how some people in the media wanna take shots at me for no reason. all good. keeping it positive over here. all about the music," he wrote on Twitter on July 2.
