Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out is returning to TV after a six-year hiatus and Cannon, the show's producer and host, wants Eminem to be a part of it.

"I asked Eminem to do it," he told Vibe, in an interview published on July 4. "That'll be an amazing show. That'd be big for hip-hop. But I still think he's a little scared."

Cannon asking for an Eminem cameo on the show may come as a shock to fans, since the rapper has a turbulent history with Mariah Carey. Eminem reportedly started dating Carey, who is now Cannon's wife, in 2001. However, Carey vehemently denied the relationship existed.

In response to Carey's denial, the 40-year-old rapper negatively referenced her twice on his fourth studio album The Eminem Show, released in 2002. He also mentioned her again on The Re-Up, his 2006 compilation album. The rapper also lashed out at Cannon on the song The Warning. He reportedly rapped about Cannon, "You're going to ruin my career, you better get one."

Carey retaliated with her own song Obsessed, from her 2009 album Memoirs of Imperfect Angel.

Aside from Eminem, Cannon also said he asked two other superstar rappers to make an appearance on Wild 'N Out: Kanye West and Jay-Z.

"Yo come on man, quit playing,' " Cannon said he told Jay-Z. "He was like 'You really think I'm going to wild out?' "

About getting West on the show, Cannon said, "Kanye is still my man, still one of my close friends. I think this time around, when we shot it, he was in the middle of making the album that's out now."

West appeared in an episode back in 2008 where he memorably freestyled a whole set on stage. While West won't be on the show again this season, Jay-Z's cameo wasn't confirmed or denied.

Confirmed rappers this season include A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller and 2 Chainz. Comedians Lil Duval, Kevin Hart and Mike Epps will also be on the show. Wild 'N Out premieres July 9 on MTV2 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
