With Kate Middleton's July 13 due date less than a week away, she is said to be feeding her baby bump spicy foods to induce labor.

According to The Daily Star, Chan and Hash Shingadia, claimed to be friends of the pregnant Duchess told the publication that they cooked curry for Middleton after visiting her at her parent's home in Berkshire.

"She said she had a craving so I made her a big batch to take away with rice and flatbread," Chan said.

While many women believe that spicy foods could speed the labor, leading charity Tommy's and Johnson's Baby have insisted that is not true.

''Eating curries or drinking raspberry leaf tea will not, unfortunately, induce labour," a midwife for the charity, Sharon Broad told The Telegraph.

''There is no evidence to support this. I still speak to many women, however, who continue to eat spicy food and take raspberry leaf tea in late pregnancy hoping that either will bring on labour," Broad said.

Enstars reported Sunday that The Queen has placed an emergency helicopter on standby to take Prince Wiliam to the hospital just in case Middleton goes into labour while he is on duty.

Sources say that William is planning on being a "modern father" and will assist Middleton with the baby in any way that he can.

"William will very much want to be a modern father. He has huge love for Kate and is adamant he'll be with her when she gives birth," the source said, adding, "He's promised Kate he will be there. It just shows how serious he is."

While reports indicated that Middleton fears that William will miss the arrival of their first child, the source said that the father-to-be has assured his wife that he will be very active after the baby is born.

"He'll be very hands-on - and that means from day one. William regards Kate as his equal partner. It's not like the Charles and Diana days. Things have moved on," the source said.
