Pakistani cricket legend Wasim Akram is now engaged to Shaniera Thompson.

The fast-bowler lost his wife Huma to cancer in 2009 and was left alone with two young boys. However, after being linked to Sushmita Sen and model Humaima Malik, the 47-year-old cricketer is now engaged to 30-year-old Shaniera, according to IBN Live.

The Australian Shaniera is a PR Consultant and has been dating the former athlete for the last year and a half, according to the Herald Sun .

"Yes, I will marry next year and I've known Shaniera for the last one-and-a-half years and she has converted to Islam," Akram said, according to Herald Sun.

Akram reportedly proposed the old fashioned way, getting down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage, according to Cricket Country.

"She is close to my kids who are also excited and my in-laws (Huma's parents) also endorsed the decision after meeting her," Akram said, according to the AFP. "It will be a new life, a new beginning and I hope that we will settle down well with the best wishes of family and fans."

Since Akram retired from the game in 2003, he will have plenty of time to spend with his new wife.
