Fox's Glee has just kicked its TV series into high gear for season 5, as it recently bulked up its season 5 cast with the addition of American Idol alumni Adam Lambert.

Co-creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy had taken to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that the musician will be coming aboard the program.

"I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall," he said.

Further information on Lambert's capacity has yet to be revealed. Reps for both 20th Century Fox Television and Fox didn't give any details on whether his character will be brought in as a series regular, recurring part or guest role.

Lambert isn't the first American Idol graduate to join the hit musical TV show, as AI champion Jessica Sanchez was involved in a multiple episode story-arc last season, playing a diva from a rival glee squad.

Although no clear-cut date has yet to be made for it's return, Glee's fifth season will most likely be coming back on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9/8 p.m. Central on FOX.

The midseason finale is slated to come out on either Nov. 14 or Nov. 21. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the popular TV program. Check out an old interview with Lambert talking about Glee a couple years back.
