Although AMC's hit TV zombie series, The Walking Dead, is still a considerable amount of time away from the fall launch of its fourth season, that hasn't stopped its loyalists from frantically scouring the web for the latest dirt on the program.

The show is set to make its return to the small screen under the leadership of its third showrunner Scott M. Gimple. The writer-producer, who has been aboard the show in other capacities, will be taking over for the recently departed Glen Mazzara.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, while Gimple will be staying true to the program's central premise, he'll be focusing more on individual character-driven stories moving forward. Gimple touched on the character development, and what lies ahead for them.

"The DNA is all in how people have died in the comic; it's always served the story. If it's just serving as a shock, it's a failure. It has to mean something. That doesn't mean it can't be completely out of the blue because that happens sometimes in this world," he said.

AMC's The Walking Dead will be kicking off its new season on Sunday, October 13 at 9/8 p.m. Central. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the hit zombie series. A look ahead at Season 4 can be watched below!
