Should Wolverine feature in an upcoming Avengers film?

Hugh Jackman seems to think so. Currently staring in The Wolverine, a James Mangold film set to hit theaters on July 26, the actor believes fans would enjoy the crossover, according to Collider.

Jackman would like to see his mutant character fight alongside not only the current Avengers, but also team up with Spider-Man. Putting the X-Men, Spidey, and The Avengers together in a comic book would be one thing, but getting them on screen together is a whole different endeavor.

"I understand at Marvel they've got The Avengers, they've got a lot of big things going on, but at some point I just find it almost impossible that there's not a way to bring Iron Man, all the Avengers characters, Wolverine, the X-Men characters, Spider-Man, and somehow get them in together," Jackman told Collider,

With the superheroes scattered across three different studios, it would take a fairly unprecedented amount of cooperation to place them all in the same film. While Marvel Studios holds the rights to The Avengers characters, Fox has X-Men and Sony holds the reigns on the web-slinger.

"I don't see the impediment!  I'm like, okay you've got three studios, just split it three ways in terms of the cost, and happy days it's all coming together," the 44-year-old idealistically said, according to Collider. "I would love to... I'm in for it, I'm totally up for it because I think that would be really exciting for fans across the board."

Joss Whedon did managed to wrangle using Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch from the X-Men universe, but this was partially because of thier connection to The Avengers and the fact that Whedon will not mention their mutant background in The Avengers 2.

Crossovers can clearly work on a small scale and, as unlikely as it is, it would be nice to see the X-Men, Spider-Man, and The Avengers all working togeahter.
