Fast & Furious 7 isn't due for release until July 2014, but director James Wan is teasing a little bit about the upcoming film.

Wan, who rose to fame after directing Saw in 2004, revealed the film will "honor the world that the filmmakers and the cast have created."

"But, of course, at the same time, I want to put my own spin on it," he told the Huffington Post.

"If I don't put my own stamp on it, I won't have any interest in pursuing this movie at all. And I think what what i would love to bring to it is, my spin, would be more tension and suspense -- that's what I want to bring to the action of this movie and the drama of this film," he added.

Wan briefly touched on what elements he was set to bring for the latest racing franchise installment.

“I really like the theme of this next one that we're going with. I can't really talk about it, but I like the theme; it's one that I really relate to,” Wan said.

“Then there's the drive of Number Seven, which was set up at the end of Number Six, which is a classic revenge story. I'm a big [genre] fan, so that's how I'm approaching it: I'm looking at it like a gritty, '70s revenge thriller, but one that still fits into the Fast and Furious series," he told IndieWire.

On IMDB, the upcoming film plot has been teased: "After Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel) and his crew helped take down Owen Shaw, his brother Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) now wants revenge."

The seventh film is set to begin filming in September. Actor Vin Diesel opened up about seventh movie, revealing that filming is scheduled to take place in locations like Tokyo and the Middle East.

"We're definitely going back home, as you know from seeing Fast and Furious 6," said Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto, according to Digital Spy. "We will have a stint in Tokyo and there is the Middle East next, that could be very interesting."

The film is set to hit theaters in July 2014.
