The trailer for "Sparkle," the film starring Whitney Houston set for release in August, debuted today.

In the trailer, Houston plays Emma, a good-spirited mother of three sisters pursuing singing careers that face the challenges posed by fame and drugs. Houston is shown singing in the trailer.

"Sparkle" was Houston's last film before died in February from an accidental drowning in her Beverly Hills hotel bathtub.
