As some lucky Comic-Con attendees get to screen the Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD pilot, word has circulated that Cobie Smulders will be reprising her role of Maria Hill for the ABC series.

First seen in Joss Whedon's The Avengers, Agent Hill will return to SHIELD with Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the first live-action program from Marvel. A closely kept secret, the news was released by The Hollywood Reporter as the Comic-Con SHIELD panel began in San Diego.

"I wanted very much to have Cobie in the pilot because as much as anyone else, she IS SHIELD," Whedon said of his decision to bring on the How I Met Your Mother star, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "She's cool and commanding, and has the dry humor that plays so well with Clark's. Also, if she's in it I get to hang out with Cobie,"

While Smulders is currently set to feature in next year's Captain America: The Winter Solider and is rumored to be cast for the highly anticipated The Avengers 2, viewers will have to wait and see how big of a role Hill will have in the new series.

How I Met Your Mother is rolling into its last season and Smulders time will likely be tied up filming the CBS comedy. The Hollywood Reporter states that while Smulders is currently only announced for the pilot, her involvement with CBS does not preclude possible future appearances on the ABC show.
