The cast and crew of Bates Motel gathered at a panel at Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif. Saturday and teased what was ahead for season 2.

Bates Motel creator Carlton Cuse said that there was storyline pitched by Vera Farmiga (who plays Norma Bates) that will show up in the second episode of season 2. He teased the storyline with one word: "Sandman." It is unknown as to what "Sandman" is referring to but it may become clearer once the actors start doing more press for the show and talking about upcoming storylines.

Cuse also said that there would be a storyline involving the freeway bypass in season 2. "It's kind of a Civics lesson," Cuse said jokingly. "Norman's (Freddie Highmore) going to be doing more taxidermy, stuffing bigger animals next year."

Additionally, Cuse said that Dylan Massett (Max Thieriot), Norman's half-brother, will be "having a lot of sex [in season 2]," though he would not elaborate on who his sexual partners would be.

There was also a lot of discussion about Norma and Norman, the show's central relationship. Discussing their intense mother-son relationship, Highmore said, "We do disagree slightly on Norma and Norman's relationship. I think it's slightly dodgy and Vera [Farmiga] thinks it's really nice."

Farmiga explained that her character Norma is lonely and needy.

"I think any mother in the audience will tell you that they grow up so quickly and you have to slather it on while you can," she added.

As for how long the show's producers intend on making the show, Cuse explained that it will not be a long-running series.

"'Bates Motel' is a story with a beginning, middle and end," he said. "I don't think that we're doing 14 years of Bates Motel, so our idea is to tell the story as best we can in the right amount of time."
