Like most celebrities Katy Perry has a new fragrance out, but her inspiration isn't as common.

According to a July 21 The Inquisitr article, Perry's latest perfume Killer Queen is inspired by British rock band Queen's Freddie Mercury's lyrics.

"Killer Queen has been in my vocabulary since I was 15, because of the song 'Killer Queen' by Queen," Perry told Women's Wear Daily. "Freddie Mercury painted the lyrics of this woman who I wanted to be. She seemed very powerful, and she captivated a room when she walked in. I named my company Killer Queen after those lyrics. I feel like, after all this time, it was appropriate to use that name in association with something I did. I feel like I'm falling, finally, into that woman Freddie painted."

The perfume, which will be in stores next month, is following Perry's other fragrances Purr and Meow. The singer partnered with Laurent Le Guernec of International Flavors and Fragrances for the Killer Queen perfume.

Examiner.com reported on July 21 that it took the Teenage Dream singer and her team over 30 tries to get the scent perfected. Perry said the perfume is "powerful, edgy, sophisticated," compared to her first two perfumes that were more youthful.

Women's Wear Daily also reported that Killer Queen is expected to come in four eaux de parfum sizes ranging from 0.5 oz for $20, to 3.4oz for $59.99. There will also be Killer Queen body lotion and shower gel options.
