A growing list of celebrities are allegedly joining Stevie Wonder to boycott the state of Florida and its Stand Your Ground law.

According to April D Ryan, sources affiliated with Wonder disclosed a list of celebrities who agreed to partake in the stance against the controversial law in the wake of the George Zimmerman verdict. Wonder announced on July 14 in Quebec City, Canada, that he will never perform in Florida until Stand Your Ground is abolished.

"As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world," Wonder told the crowd in Canada. "The truth is that for those of you who've lost in the battle for justice, wherever that fits in any part of the world...we can't bring them back. What we can do is we can let our voices be heard. And we can vote in our various countries throughout the world for change and equality for everybody. That's what I know we can do."

Wonder made the announcement the day after Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury of six women in Seminole, Fla. on July 13. Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges for the February 2012 death of Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman told police he shot Martin in self-defense, citing Florida's Stand Your Ground law. He faced multiple charges in the second-degree murder trial, which began on June 24. He also faced manslaughter and third-degree felony murder charges for the death of the unarmed 17-year-old teen.

Zimmerman wasn't initially arrested for Martin's killing, which sparked protests around the country at the time. The chief of Sanford's police department resigned amid the backlash. Zimmerman was eventually arrested and charged 44 days after the shooting on April 11, 2012.

Stand Your Ground, which was legalized in 2005, states that a person may use deadly force in self- defense without the duty to retreat when faced with a reasonable perceived threat. It is approved in almost 30 states. Zimmerman's acquittal has since sparked dozens of protests around the country.
