Kristen Wiig and Fabrizio Moretti ended their 18 month relationship on Thursday as reported by Us Weekly.

The former SNL star and The Strokes band member, who have been linked since December 2011, split on good terms.

"It was very amicable and they will remain friends," a source confirmed to the magazine.

News of their split comes at a surprise since the two have been spotted numerous times in New York smiling, holding hands and looking happy together. Back in August 2012, Wiig even shared with Marie Claire her relationship status with the 33-year-old rock star.

"I will say that I'm happier than I've ever been, and I feel very lucky," she revealed.

So what happened? While the source didn't reveal any other details, it seems that age wasn't an issue. In an interview with The Daily Beast, she hinted that dating someone younger was normal for her.

"Personally, I just don't ever really think about age when it comes to relationships, and you can't really help who you fall in love with," Wiig, 39, said. "I think every guy I've ever dated has been younger than me...I'll meet someone, find out how old they are later, and be like, 'Really?' I just don't know why."

Before dating Moretti, Wiig was linked to longtime friend Brian Petsos for about two years. The rumor began that she was dating Moretti while still dating Petsos. For Fabrizio, he was in a five year relationship with Drew Barrymore until it ended in 2007.

After hearing about Wiig dating her ex, Barrymore told Allure, "It all seems so wacky and incestuous, but that's kind of how life works."

Despite the breakup, Wiig, known for being funny, doesn't seem like the hearbroken type. Plus, she has a lot to celebrate since she just had two movies released in July- Despicable Me 2 and Girl Most Likely.
