While Mark Wahlberg appeared on Monday's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, he spoke about pairing up with Denzel Washington for the movie 2 Guns.

The actor was asked how it was working with Washington, and immediately replied, "Greatest actor in the world and one of the great guys of all time." Prior to working together for the action comedy film, the 42-year-old actor has been trying to work with Washington in other films.

"We've been friendly for a while and I've been trying to get him in a movie with me and he's always like, 'No,'" Wahlberg explained.

When Washington got around to reading the script for 2 Guns, he finally found something he was interested in.

"Coming off of Flight, I was looking to dip my toe in and do something to have more fun," the 58-year-old actor said at a press conference. "When I read the script and heard Mark was involved, I knew Mark was not just funny, but he has a warmth in him - a heart in him - that I loved."

The film 2 Guns is about a U.S. naval intelligence officer (Wahlberg) and a DEA agent (Washington) who have been sent on a dangerous mission without knowing they were both undercover agents. After discovering they've been set up, they work together to flee being captured and end up bonding.

"He's so funny in the movie and so charming," Wahlberg added. "It's a Denzel you've never seen."

Even though the film was filled with a lot of improvising from both actors, they each reciprocated each other gracefully.

"Everybody I've talked to, when they heard I was working with him, they said he's just a regular guy like me - it was easy," Washington said. "It was like let's go, let's hit it. He hasn't lost his way, he's not trippin.'"

2 Guns, also starring Paula Patton and Bill Paxtonhits, theaters Friday, Aug. 2. Watch the trailer below.
