FX's hit TV series Sons of Anarchy continues to garner increasing attention for its upcoming season, which will once again include Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) attempting to remove his family from the dangers that come with being a SAMCRO member.

While Hunnam is well aware that fans are rooting for his character, he had no qualms about admitting at 2013's Comic-Con that he doesn't make it a point to win a popularity contest, according to Digital Spy.

"I never feel a responsibility to keep Jax likeable. Because I think it would be a disservice to the complexity of the character. [But] he hadn't really anticipated just how difficult it is to rule and to make choices that are going to affect everybody. It's a tremendous amount of pressure," he said.

Despite the actor coming clean about his approach toward playing the Sons' president, he also spoke about his very own demons, which were around quite often during his upbringing.

"It's not like I don't have my own dark side. I spend a lot of my time trying to not go there, because it's an unhealthy place for me to be, but I come from a very hard area and my father was an incredibly hard, brutal man," Hunnam added.

Hunnam stated that his experiences in his childhood have allowed him to more effectively tap into the dark places he may need to go when playing Jax.

"I feel very close to the propensity for violence and to go to a dark place. But I'm very fortunate that I got out and don't have to have that as a currency in my life," he said.

Sons of Anarchy is set to return for season 6 on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 10/9 p.m. Central on the FX network. Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on the program.
