After news surfaced that the Man of Steel sequel would be "Batman vs. Superman," plenty of rumors have been swirling about who will be in the cast as well as the plot of the film.

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman/Clark Kent for the film but Christian Bale will not return to play Batman/Bruce Wayne, stepping away from the character he most recently played in The Dark Knight Returns. There have been rumors linking many of Hollywood's leading men to the role, but nothing has been confirmed.

One actor that is being considered for the role of Batman is Tyler Hoechlin, who currently stars in the MTV series Teen Wolf as Derek Hale. Cosmic Book News reported on July 23 that DC Entertainment was allegedly looking to screen-test Hoechlin with Cavill to see if the pair worked well together.

The Guardian reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the most likely choice to play Batman in the new film. The actor played John Blake/Robin in The Dark Knight Rises that was last seen becoming a vigilante in the same vein as Batman. They listed Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal as other contenders for the role.

Little else is known about the film, which is set for a 2015 release. David S. Goyer, who will be writing the film, did confirm at a Comic-Con panel that the film was down to two possible names.

"We're actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it's that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that's happening," he revealed to fans.

The Man of Steel sequel was announced to be filming in Toronto by Canadians news site Vancity Buzz on Friday. The first Man of Steel movie was filmed in Vancouver but the production team decided to move for the sequel for the tax benefits, according to the site.
