The NCIS: Los Angeles cast and crew are already in their second week of shooting and behind the scenes photos tease what viewers will see in the season premiere.

Thanks to a script photo from Eric Christian Olsen, we know that the first episode of season 5 is titled "Ascension." Directed by Terrence O'Hara and written by Frank Military, according to the script, it appears that the first episode back will pick up where last spring's "Descent" left off.

Following the team's attempts to track down Cold War-era nuclear weapons, Siderov (Timothy V. Murphy) captured Sam (LL Cool J) and Deeks (Olsen), ultimately torturing them to gain information on them and Sam's undercover wife Michelle Hanna (Aunjanue Ellis). Meanwhile Kensi (Daniela Ruah) rushes to try and save Michelle from two of Siderov's agents even as she is still reeling from a sudden kiss with Deeks. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) is forced to watch his team be lured into ever more dangerous situations as he realizes that they were betrayed by Marcel Janvier (Christopher Lambert).

Photos from the cast and crew show a living, although sufficiently bloodied, Deeks following Siderov's interrogation. Sam also seems to be alive and well as he investigates a rooftop with Kensi. Callen can be seen chasing a suspect through the mall in the video below from Instagram user Justanik.

As for the return of Peter Cambor as Nate Getz, the actor recently arrived in Las Angeles and may appear in either episode 1 or episode 2, but it seems more likely that it will be the latter. Cambor expressed his excitement via Twitter in regards to the announcement that director Jonathan Frakes will be helming the second episode of season 9.
