CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has finished shooting the season 14 premiere, "The Devil and D.B. Russell."

As Enstars previously announced, the cold opening for the first episode begins with most of the CSI team gathered in a church for a funeral before moving into flashbacks from last spring's finale, "Skin in the Game."

Season 8 ended with the disappearance of two characters, Morgan Brody (Elisabeth Harnois) and Ellie Brass (Teal Redmann), the daughter of Jim Brass (Paul Guifoyal). The abduction occurred while the Las Vegas team was investigating a series of murders that were connected with Dante's Inferno. Although Morgan's undercover work seemed like it was ultimately unsuccessful, she went missing from the car directly afterward, around the same time as Brass received a video showing his kidnapped daughter.

When the show returns, the crime-solving sleuths will be investigating a food competition that is using some interesting ingredients, according to CBS. However, while this is taking place, it is safe to assume that the search for Morgan and Ellie is also underway.

As viewers wait to find out who is in the casket at the funeral, actress Harnois is being cryptic when asked on Twitter about her character's potential death.

"That is out of my control and as hard as it is to say just wait and watch to see," Harnois wrote to a fan.

Find out who survives the Dante's Inferno killer when the show returns to CBS on Sept. 25.
