Despite praising the Knicks' offseason moves thus far, Carmelo Anthony wouldn't address his future with the team in a recent interview.

New York's superstar can opt out of his contract at the end of next season and several teams, most notably the Lakers, will attempt to lure Anthony from Madison Square Garden. While coaching at his summer basketball camp in Las Vegas, the 29-year-old said he liked the Knicks' recent signings of Andrea Bargnani and Metta World Peace, but sidestepped questions about whether he planned to play for the Knicks long-term, saying only that next season was an important one.

"I can't do that,'' he told ESPN, in response to a question about the impact next season will have on his future with the team. "It's too tough right now. It's a big year. A huge upcoming season for me, as a team and as an organization."

Earlier this month, Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald said he expected his superstar to resign with the team, according to the New York Post.

"We obviously love Carmelo,'' Grunwald said. "We think he's great for New York and New York is great for him. We see a long-term successful partnership with him as we go forward.

Anthony did acknowledge that he Knicks' crosstown rival, the Brooklyn Nets, made some "special" acquisitions this offseason. The Nets signed perennial all-stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce from Boston as well as accomplished role players in Jason Terry and Andre Kirilenko.

"It's special what [the Nets) did," Anthony said. "J-Kidd [Jason] will have four or five future Hall of Famers. I played with him for a year and also with USA Basketball and I know his mentality. He knows the game. It won't be hard for him to deal with those guys because he'll put them in position and only have to tell them things one time.''

Still, Anthony said no one would know who the best New York team is until the Knicks and Nets play next season.

"We'll see whether we have enough," Anthony said. "We haven't even stepped on the court yet."
