Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might return to the UK as part-time royals once this special day finally occurs.

When Prince Harry and Meghan departed their senior royal posts, Queen Elizabeth II expressed her support, especially since the monarchy cannot allow them to continue working unless they remain full-time.

"Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family remaining a valued part of my family," the monarch said in a statement.

Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex already dedicated themselves to philanthropic works outside the royal family, the duo might reportedly return soon as part-time royals.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Will Be Back?

A royal author recently claimed that Prince Charles' accession to the throne might play a huge role in making the Sussexes return to the monarchy again.

In an interview with To Di For Daily podcast, royal author Tom Quinn said that Prince Harry and Meghan might feel interested in returning.

"One interesting thing an insider told me... is that both Meghan and Harry believe that when the elder royals die - in other words, Elizabeth - they may well be able when Charles is King, be able to come back and be the part-time royals that they really wanted to be," he said, as quoted by Express.

It means that the Sussexes should work six months as royals and another six months in states.

Quinn noted that Queen Elizabeth II disapproved of that set-up. However, he believes Prince Harry and Meghan remain hopeful Prince Charles would finally allow a new part-time set up for them.

The royal author also claimed the Duke of Sussex never wanted to destroy the royal family. Instead, he just wants to have a role while making Meghan happy.

Is It Possible to Happen?

While Prince Charles might indeed have a soft heart for his son, he is highly unlikely to grant the Sussexes another chance, especially since he already established a plan he would follow once he becomes king.

For what it's worth, Prince Charles' plan to slim down the monarchy has been a hot topic for months. He wants to recalibrate the royal positions and re-establish the monarchy. This would reportedly highlight the works of those closer to the throne, including the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

As it is, it is safe to say that - as of now - Prince Harry and Meghan have no places to return to even after Prince Charles succeeds the throne.
