Prince William still carries the pain he first felt when he lost his mother, Princess Diana.

Prince William and Prince Harry, unfortunately, had to grow up in a broken family after their father, Prince Charles, committed infidelity and cheated on Princess Diana. Things got worse when the Princess of Wales passed away due to a horrifying car accident right when the royal princes were just teens.

Every year, Prince William and the whole royal family celebrate Mother's Day and pay tribute to all the mothers across the globe.

Although Princess Diana is no longer there to celebrate with them, the Duke of Cambridge assures he always remembers his mother - although he still struggles years later.

Express UK reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrapped their Caribbean tour just in time to celebrate Mother's Day. The family of five reportedly spent the day at Kensington Palace.

Prince William and Kate's only daughter, Princess Charlotte, marked the event with a card for Princess Diana. She revealed in her message that her father misses the Princess of Wales so bad.

"Dear Granny Diana, I am thinking of you on Mother's Day. I love you very much, papa is missing you. Lots of love Charlotte," she wrote on the card she decorated with a heart and butterfly stickers.

Prince George and Prince Louis also made their own greetings for their grandmother, saying they think of her all the time.

Prince William's Heartbreaking Promise to Princess Diana

Prince William and Princess Diana shared a close relationship before the royal princess' untimely death. But before she succumbed following the car accident, the then-young Duke of Cambridge offered a comforting promise to his mother after her divorce from Prince Charles.

The Mirror revealed that Princess Diana was awarded a whopping amount of money following her split from the Prince of Wales. The monarchy also allowed her to keep her Kensington Palace apartments.

However, it was decided that she could no longer use her HRH title of The Princess of Wales, officially cutting her connection to the royal family.

After learning about it, Prince William - the current second reserve to the throne - promised her that he would give the title back to his mother once he became king.

According to Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, the touching promise made Princess Diana emotional.

"She told me how he had sat with her one night when she was upset over the loss of HRH, put his arms around her and said, 'Don't worry, Mummy. I will give it back to you one day when I am king,'" he wrote.
