It's a sad day for fans of music group The Wanted, as their frontman Tom Parker has died after a long battle with brain cancer.

Parker learned to play the guitar when he was 16, eventually quitting high school to pursue his music career. He joined The Wanted, best known for hit song "I'm Glad You Came," in 2009, and went on to achieve great success with them for a number of years.

The musician was unfortunately diagnosed with a stage 4 glioblastoma - a type of brain cancer - back in October 2020, eventually having to be confined to a wheelchair as he underwent treatments at a clinic in Spain.

After 3 weeks of treatment, he was able to rejoin his band in February, performing with The Wanted once again from a gold throne at the center of the stage.

Sadly, that turned out to be one of his final performances - Tom Parker died on Wednesday, according to TMZ, with his wife Kelsey and his family by his side.

A statement from Kelsey said:

"Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can't imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence. We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom's light continues to shine for his beautiful children."

In addition to his wife, Parker is survived by his two very young children: Aurelia, 2, and Bodhi, 1. He himself was only 33.

Our hearts go out to his family, his band, and all others who are affected by this terrible tragedy.
