Fans of The Bachelorette were shocked and disappointed for Desiree Hartsock on Monday when part 1 of the season 9 finale ended with Brooks Forester's dramatic exit

Sean Lowe, the star of The Bachelor season 17, however, commended Forester for being brave enough to admit his true feelings.

After Forester confessed that he "wasn't madly in love" with Hartsock and eliminated himself from the competition, Lowe commended Forester for his honesty.

"Much respect for Brooks. Not everyone can see beyond the show," he wrote on Twitter.

The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison shared his views on Forester's exit on Good Morning America on Tuesday. As an impartial member of the show's cast, he said he had to keep his personal opinions to himself, when he noticed the warning signs that Forester was not into Hartsock as much as she was into him. Harrison said he noticed that Forester never told Hartsock that he loved her.

"So my deal was to figure out what this guy really was saying, because he didn't articulate it very well to me," Harrison told GMA co-anchor Lara Spencer. "And so several times if you heard I'm like, 'Let's make this clear. Are you not sure? Are you 100 percent sure? Do you need more time?' I was just trying to vet the whole thing out before he made any rash decisions. And ultimately, [he said] 'I'm not in love with her, and I'm definitely not where she is, so I need to take myself out of this.'"

Part two of The Bachelorette season 9 finale airs on Monday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC
