If you've been a fan of anime, you've probably at least heard of the iconic anime Tiger & Bunny. In a surprise turn of events, Tiger & Bunny is getting a third opportunity for a live-action adaptation - this time by SK Global, one of the production companies behind Crazy Rich Asians.

Owned by Bandai-Namco, Tiger & Bunny established a name for itself for its portrayal of superheroes and high production value. Set in a fictionalized, futuristic city, the anime centers around a group of superheroes who fight crime, while also promoting sponsors. The action of the series kicks off when the two titular characters, Kotetsu T. Kaburagi "Wild Tiger" and Barnaby Brooks Jr. "Bunny" are forced to work together. Tiger & Bunny was once named by Japanese public broadcaster NHK as the best anime of all time.

In a quote given to Variety, Filosophia CEO Fujimura Tetsu, one of the executive producers of the new live action Tiger & Bunny adaptation, said, "We see this as a strong property for English-language adaptation, in part because of the popularity and awareness that the show already enjoys outside Japan, and partly because of its unique concept."

While details are scarce about the newest adaptation attempt, SK Global's effort is the third time Tiger & Bunny was tapped for the live-action treatment. Previously, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment and Weed Productions gave Tiger & Bunny's live-action adaptation a shot in 2015, while Donald Tang's Global Road Entertainment also tried in 2018. However, the deals fell through both times due to each company's external troubles, which allowed the Tiger & Bunny rights to return to Bandai-Namco. Outside of the live-action adaptations and the anime, the Tiger & Bunny manga has also spawned video games, a stage play, and two anime films.
