As the infamous Olsen Twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have amassed great fortune.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the two have a combined net worth of $500 million. The Olsen twins are two of the wealthiest women in entertainment despite not having had significant film or television appearances in over 20 years. As it is, they were already billionaires the moment they reached 18 years of age.

The two have avoided cameras and anything related to being in the spotlight for years that it was a surprise they decided to do an interview with i-D this year.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen sat down with i-D to discuss fashion in honor of The Row's fifteenth anniversary. Mary-Kate told the interviewer, "We're a bit out of practice," Mary-Kate warned her interviewer.

Later in the interview, she stated, "We were raised to be discreet people." Given how much they respect their privacy, Ashley even shared that they were not even keen to be the faces of their brand if they had their way.

Ashley elaborated: "We didn't want to be in front of it, we didn't necessarily even want to let people know it was us. It was really about the product, to the point where we were like: Who could we get to front this so that we don't have to?"

In 2006, while attending New York University, Mary-Kate and Ashley established The Row. They had no intention of turning it into a business, and critics viewed it as as another celebrity brand that would rapidly fade from memory. But the "passion project" turned gold.

The Olsen Twins Bio, Age

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were born on July 13, 1986 in Sherman Oaks, California, as fraternal twins. They are now 36.

They have an older brother and a younger sister, Elizabeth Olsen, who is also an actress, presently becoming increasingly well-known for her craft.

In 1995, the parents of the twins, Dave Olsen and Jarrette Jones, divorced. The twins have two half-siblings from the second marriage of their father. In 2004, the Olsen Twins attended NYU and appeared to have largely fit in with the student body.

Their massive net worth can be attributed to the fashion empire they have built, but one cannot discount the fact that they were already earning acting money as early as 6 months of age.

When they were cast as Michelle Tanner in the ABC series Full House at the age of six months, they began their acting career. To comply with child labor rules governing the amount of time a child actor might work, the sisters took turns portraying Michelle. "Full House" aired from 1987 to 1995 and peaked in the top 20 on the Nielsen Ratings chart.

While continuing to star on "Full House," the twins began to feature as separate characters in television and video productions. In 1993, the twins founded Dualstar Entertainment Group, LLC, through which they produced a successful series of direct-to-video (The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley) and made-for-television films, including "Double, Double Toil and Trouble," "To Grandmother's House We Go," "Passport to Paris," "Winning London," "Holiday in the Sun," and "How the West Was Fun," among many others.

The Olsens made their feature picture debut in 1995 with "It Takes Two," following the conclusion of "Full House." Steve Guttenberg and Kirstie Alley portrayed their parents in the film. They created a second video series, "You're Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's," in the same year and continued to release new videos in the series until the year 2000.

The Olsen Twins also appeared as guest stars on several famous sitcoms, including that of the "7th Heaven." They had a cameo voice part in an episode of The Simpsons in early 2004. Their final feature picture together, "New York Minute," was released in theaters in 2004. It would be their final film together and signal Ashley's retirement from performing. Mary-Kate continued to make sporadic film and television appearances; in 2007, she portrayed Tara Lindman on the television series "Weeds."

Despite people knowing they have "retired" from Hollywood, fans cannot help but be intrigued with what is happening with the two almost all the time.

It was announced in 2015 that John Stamos has signed up with Netflix to produce and co-star in Fuller House, a spin-off of Full House that will reunite the original cast. In May of that year, Mary-Kate and Ashley declared that they were not interested in resuming their role as Michelle Tanner. In June, they formally denied the invitation, with Ashley explaining that she would not feel comfortable in front of the camera after a 12-year sabbatical and MK stating that the timing was inappropriate.

The twins were named co-presidents of Dualstar on their 18th birthday. Since 2002, the Olsen twins have appeared on the Forbes celebrity 100 list consistently.
