There is big movie news coming from Netflix. After an exhaustive year and a half long negotiation, the Russo Brothers have penned a deal to make The Electric State into a feature film.

Based on the 2018 illustrated novel of the same name by Tales From the Loop's creator Simon Stalenhag, The Electric State tells the story of an orphaned teen who travels through a future American West in search of her missing younger brother, while accompanied by a strange drifter and a robot.

Set to star in the film is Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, who has worked with Netflix in the past beyond her role as Eleven on the series, playing the titular character Enola Holmes in the Netflix original movie which tells the story of Sherlock Holmes' adventurous and brilliant little sister.

Also in negotiations to play a role in The Electric State is actor Chris Pratt, who is no stranger to working with Joe and Anthony Russo - they directed the worldwide blockbusters Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, reprising his character of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) from Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Adapting the novel will be Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely whose past credits include several Russo Brothers films including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Infinity War, and Endgame, as well as The Gray Man, the Russo Brothers film which will drop on Netflix on July 22.

The Electric State is slated to begin filming in October of this year in Atlanta, Georgia, though there is no release date at this time.
