Anthony Anderson has a few thoughts for the Television Academy.

Last night, Black-ish star Anthony Anderson hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. It was just a few short afters after the 74th Emmy Award nominations came out. While Jimmy Kimmel Live! walked away with a nomination for Variety Talk Series, Anderson's show could not celebrate in the same way.

Black-ish closed out its final season in April. The show has been loved by many for years. Yet, in light of yesterday's nominations, the fan favorite show was only recognized by nominations in two different categories: contemporary costume and contemporary hairstyling.

When giving his opening monologue, Anderson made sure to congratulate those nominated while simultaneously throwing a bit of shade towards the nominators. He said:

"Look, I don't want to bring the mood down, but I do have a bone to pick with the Academy...You know who did not get nominated for a Primetime Emmy this morning? America's sweetheart, me! That's right, me - Anthony Anderson - and neither did my show, Black-ish, or my co-star, Tracee Ellis Ross."

Anderson was not the only person that was overlooked by this year's Emmy nominations. Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez was the only one of the main three characters not to be nominated in a lead category for the hit comedy as her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short were both nominated for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Similarly, the world is up in arms that Stranger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown and Sadie Sink did not receive nominations for their exemplary performances this season. Unlike Only Murders in the Building, no one from Stranger Things was nominated for an acting category, but this is specifically shocking in light of the two young actresses who were tasked with immense challenges this season (challenges that they DEFINITELY rose to).

While we are sorry that Black-ish did not gets its due in the nominations, we are glad that Anderson found a way to make jokes about it!
