The premiere of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is drawing ever closer.

While some lucky Comic-Con goers were treated to the pilot episode of the first live-action series from the comic book giant, details regarding SHIELD are still mostly locked up in the Marvel cone of silence. At the Television Critics' Association press tour on Sunday, the cast and crew of the upcoming show dropped a few more hints about what viewers will see in the first season.

The biggest question currently being tossed around is how SHIELD will fit into the Marvel universe.

"Think of it the way you would a new comic with new characters--it's not really adapting anything, but rather forging new ground," explained Marc Strom, associate editor at Marvel.com, via a live blog.

Meanwhile, executive producers Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen explained that while the show will be operating in a post-The Avengers world and writers will be dipping into Marvel's archives to name characters, there will also be slip ups if it is advantageous to the development of the characters.

As for whether or not the show will be along the lines of a "Superhero of the Week" theme, the creators state that the focus is on the characters who are not imbued with superhero powers.

"There will be a challenge every week. They're going to try and hit a new thing every week. But there will be overarching mythology," Strom wrote, paraphrasing a quote by the Whedon brothers. "Every week, it's not going to be some new hero. It could be a device, or a mystery, or anything. They want to switch it up and deal with every aspect--the heartfelt stuff, the spy stuff, everything."

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD premieres Sept. 24 on ABC.
