Many celebrities have paid a visit to the tattoo parlor to get an ink job that symbolizes something important to them.

Angelina Jolie dedicated a tattoo to her son Maddox. After she adopted him from Cambodia in 2002, the Unbroken film director inked a Buddhist inscription on her left shoulder.

It reads: "May your enemies run far away from you. If you acquire riches, may they remain yours always. Your beauty will be that of Apsara. Wherever you may go, many will attend, serve and protect you, surrounding you on all sides."

Actor Johnny Depp has a tattoo for his son Jack on his right forearm. The tattoo was originally drawn on Depp for his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean, but the actor loved it so much he decided to get it permanently inked on his skin. It includes a sparrow flying in front of a sunset and the name Jack written underneath it.

Other stars have also inked their skin in honor of another family member, including actress Emma Stone. Her first and only tattoo is in celebration of her mother who survived breast cancer. The Gangster Squad actress got a tattoo of two little bird feet on her left wrist in 2010 and it was designed by a very famous star: The Beatles singer Paul McCartney.

"My mom's favorite song is Blackbird by Paul McCartney, and it's my favorite song as well," she said on The Late Show With David Letterman in 2010. "I wrote a letter to Paul McCartney asking him if he would draw two little bird feet - because he wrote the song - and yesterday he sent them to me."

McCartney's first wife, Linda, passed away from cancer in 1998. The two were married for almost 30 years.
