Actor Dustin Hoffman's treatment for cancer has been successful, PEOPLE reported on August 6.

"It was detected early and he has been surgically cured," PEOPLE reported Hoffman's representative Jodi Gottlieb said. "Dustin is feeling great and is in good health."

The 75-year-old director and two-time Oscar winner will have preventative treatments to minimize the chance of the cancer coming back in the future. The treatments are doctor-recommended. It hasn't been disclosed the type of cancer he suffered from.

The actor has recently been promoting his film, Quartlet, which was his first time directing a movie.

Hoffman also finished production on Jon Favreau's Chef a few weeks ago and will begin filming Roald Dahl's Esio Troto, in the upcoming months.

Starring in Boys Choir is another project the actor is working on. Production is reportedly set to start later this year or early 2014.

A video went viral recently where Hoffman almost cries talking about filming the 1982 film Tootsie. The actor explained why that comedy was never actually funny for him.

In the movie, Hoffman's character Tootsie plays an actor who isn't getting any roles, so he dresses up as a woman to star in a Soap Opera.

Hoffman explains in the interview that after many rounds of makeup, he didn't feel he looked like a beautiful woman. But the makeup team bluntly told him that was a good as it was going to get.

"It was at that moment I had an epiphany, and I went home and started crying," Hoffman told AFI. "There's too many interesting women I have ... not had the experience to know in this life because I have been brainwashed."
