Ashton Kutcher stopped by Good Morning America on Monday to discuss Steve Jobs and his role in the upcoming film Jobs.

"I remember where I was when Steve Jobs passed away. He was the [Leonardo] da Vinci of our day. I remember going home that night- I was working on my Apple computer and I had my iPhone there- what I realized was all of these relationships I have in my life are connected and pulled together by glue that he laid down with the products he built," Kutcher said in the interview with Robin Roberts.

After talking about his admiration for the founder of Apple, the 35-year-old actor shared how he had friends who used to work with Jobs and how important it was for him to not let them down. He also explained his one chance of meeting the "American Legend."

"There was a feature on the iPhone on the keyboard that I wanted...I mentioned this idea to them (his friends) and it ended up in the product and there was a developer's conference that Apple does every year and I got invited to come to it and meet Steve," he explained. "I had to work that day and, you know, it's funny, like you have those experiences and I don't think I appreciated who he was and what his contribution was at that time and I probably would have tried to take the day off and had a second chance."

To play the famous entrepreneur, Kutcher took on Job's lifestyle, transforming his appearance. He supposedly lost 18 pounds by keeping up with a fruitarian diet from the book Mucusless Diet Healing System.

"I started consuming the things that he consumed, I started studying entrepreneurs he admired, listening to the music he listed to, eating the food he ate and walking the way he walked," Kutcher said during a press conference.

The new trailer for Jobs titled "American legend" was released on Monday. It shows computer engineer Steve "Woz" Wozniak, played by Josh Gad, launching Apple from his garage in Los Atlos, Calif, Jobs getting help from investor Mike Markkula (Dermot Mulroney) and the company slowly turning into a multinational billion dollar business.

Jobs, also featuring Matthew Modine, J.K. Simmons and Lukas Haas, hits theaters Aug. 16.
