Fans are still asking why Daniel Craig left the James Bond franchise.

For over 15 years, Craig gave justice to the 007 role by leading five James Bond movies from 2006 to 2021 - starting with "Casino Royale" and ending with "No Time To Die" last year.

To reveal what led him to quit the franchise, he sat for an interview with "Good Morning America" and said it is time to finish his stint.

"To think back for a second of what was achieved and what these movies have meant to so many people it's such a big deal. But it's time to finish. It's done. As quoted by Fox News, the type of acting we get involved with in these films is always such a high standard," he said

Although his stint in the franchise was incredibly long, Craig was not actually the actor who played Bond the longest. Before him, Sean Connery played the role from 1962 until 1983.

Daniel Craig Never Wanted To Play James Bond

Actors all over the globe have been wanting to play 007 character, but only a few made it to the cut. However, Craig actually never wanted to do it initially.

In his past interview with GQ magazine, he revealed that he was uncomfortable being the center of the spotlight in a James Bond movie. The actor reportedly refused to sell the film in front of the crowd and be responsible for everything that would happen in the film.

"I could be anonymous in the world. It was genuinely like, my life is going to get f**ked if I do this," he said.

Because of the offer he received, Craig thought that it was just ludicrous as it could somewhat ruin his life. In the end, he realized that his thoughts were all self-defense and went on to accept the offer.

He officially became the eighth actor to portray the role of Commander James Bond RN -- following the pioneers Barry Nelson, Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan.

Instead of playing James Bond's role, he said he wanted to do superhero roles like the Invisible Man, Superman, or Spider-Man.

But as of press time, he is yet to become part of a superhero movie.
