Meghan Markle has not worn her engagement ring in months, and some experts have offered a few possible explanations.

The Duchess of Sussex has not been seen publicly wearing the three-stone ring, designed by Prince Harry and features two diamonds from his late mother Princess Diana's jewelry collection, since May of this year.

Professional stylist Oriona Robb told GB News that one likely reason for this was that the diamond sparkler might be undergoing maintenance or repair "as fine jewelry often requires occasional servicing."

Robb's explanation was seconded by jeweler Austen & Blake's regional sales manager James Harris, who told the same news outlet that Markle's engagement ring "may be in the workshop for repairs, maintenance or cleaning."

Harris also suggested that the duchess might have chosen not to wear her ring every day to "protect" the "important and meaningful" stones from her late mother-in-law's collection.

"With Meghan's ring, there's added sentimental value as the two smaller diamonds that frame the center stone are from Princess Diana's jewelry collection and chosen with obvious care by Harry," he explained. "While we have no doubt it's insured, the ring will still be irreplaceable for this reason."

Robb echoed his sentiments, telling GB News that Markle's engagement ring holds "emotional significance" for both Prince Harry and his older brother Prince William and "serves as a symbol of their mother's legacy."

However, the stylist also suggested that Markle forgoing her engagement ring during recent outings could be a sign that the couple's marriage was "going through a rough patch."

"Like any relationship, marriages can have their challenges, but it's important to respect their privacy and give them the space to address any possible issues without presuming the worst," Robb added.

Fans noticed that Markle wasn't wearing her engagement ring when she was in Düsseldorf, Germany, in September for the Invictus Games.

The Invictus Games, an international sports competition for wounded soldiers founded by British royal Prince Harry in 2014, was taking place from September 9 to 16, 2023 in Duesseldorf.

While the Sussexes have not addressed the reason for its absence, People reported at the time that a setting came loose on the duchess' engagement ring, so it was being serviced.

Page Six also reported in August that Markle's ring was being fixed after the former "Suits" star was spotted without it during a lunch outing with her friends Cleo Wade and Kadi Lee.

Prince Harry, who popped the question to Markle in 2017, designed the ring with the help of his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's regular jeweler, Cleave & Company.

Along with the two side stones from Princess Diana's jewelry collection, the ring features a large cushion-cut center diamond sourced from Botswana - where the Sussexes spent time together early on in their relationship.

But while she hasn't been wearing her engagement ring, Markle continues to don her wedding ring and an eternity band designed by Lorraine Schwartz that Prince Harry gifted her in 2019.
