At 57 years old, American actor and motorsports racing driver Patrick Dempsey — known for his role as Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the American medical drama TV series "Grey's Anatomy — was named People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2023.

The Maine native took the crown from last year's sexiest man alive, "Captain America" actor Chris Evans.

"I'm glad it's happening at this point in my life," Dempsey told Page Six. "It's nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive." 

The "Grey's Anatomy" star may be People magazine's sexiest man alive this year, but he has always been a heartthrob, making hearts flutter since the 80s.

Through the years, he has only shown that he is one of the great examples of men who age like fine wine.
