Netflix's Orange Is The New Black continues to garner an increasing amount of interest for its sophomore season. One of the stars of the program is actress Laverne Cox.

The actress plays Sophia Burset, a transgender woman who stands up for herself against both prisoners and prison officials.

Cox recently spoke to Tell Me More host Michael Martin about being on the Internet program as well as her experience as a real-life transgender woman, according to NPR.

"When I came along, I thought, what a wonderful opportunity to talk about and highlight issues of transwomen in prison. Certainly, Sophia has been one of the most complicated characters I've gotten to play as an actress, and I'm really grateful she's come into my life," she said.

"A beautiful blog [post] was written by this woman who said that she didn't really approve of the transgender thing and had all these misconceptions about trans people, and Sophia's storyline changed that for her," Cox explained.
