Meghan Markle has lost a lucrative deal to the actress who plays Kate Middleton on "The Crown," according to a report.

Months ago, there were rumors that Markle wanted to be part of Dior, but it didn't push through. A new report from the Mirror UK claimed that she lost the contract to Meg Bellamy, who plays the Princess of Wales on the hit Netflix show.

Some fans claimed the rumor "must make Markle cry" after Bellamy was seen sitting in the front row of a Dior fashion show. Katie Hind, consultant editor of showbusiness at Daily Mail, also reported that Bellamy was treated like royalty by the Dior executives at a couture show in July. She also mentioned the rumored Dior deal with Bellamy.

"She [Bellamy] has already pulled off a deal that would be the envy of Kate's nemesis Meghan Markle: becoming a face of French fashion house Dior, with all the perks that entails," Hind wrote.

Several sources claimed that Bellamy's role as Middleton has catapulted her to fame, with several brands wanting to work with her.

"They have been queuing up for Meg, she is playing the most famous woman in the world in a globally famous television drama, so many labels and brands want some of that. She is a total unknown, but she is being treated like Kate, an A-list princess,'" an unnamed Netflix insider told Daily Mail.

"They [brands] have been queuing up for Meg. She is being treated like Kate, an A-list princess," another unnamed source told Closer Magazine about Bellamy, Mirror reported.

Bellamy's spokesperson confirmed her relationship with Dior. However, the actress' rep described it as "an informal friendship."

Meanwhile, Markle's spokesperson has shut down claims about Prince Harry's wife being in talks to be the new face of the French fashion house in June. The Sussexes' rep told The Telegraph that the report was not true. An unnamed Dior source also spoke with the outlet and said the reports left the team in Paris "nonplussed as to how the story came about."

Bellamy reportedly shares several similarities with the Princess of Wales. She was born and brought up in Berkshire and even attended the same school as the royal. She is also sporty, like the Duchess of Cornwall, as she loves hockey and tennis.

In September 2022, she reacted to a report announcing her casting as Middleton in "The Crown" Season 6.

"Pinch me, please...So excited to announce that I will be playing Kate Middleton in Series 6 of Netflix's 'The Crown,'" she wrote on Instagram. "It is such an honor to be joining the most incredible cast and crew, and I will strive to do Kate justice."
