Models off the runway may appear quite different to the point that they are unrecognizable without layers of makeup.

Those that strut the catwalk are portrayed in media reports as symbols of beauty, showcasing garments and accessories to the best of their ability while looking stunning. Supermodels are known sometimes only be their first name - Gisele, Tyra, Heidi - proving their fame and large following. Many of those confident enough in their looks pose bare-faced in photo shoots and revealed photos of themselves without makeup on social media.

Heidi Klum works as a host on Project Runway and a judge on America's Got Talent. Prepping for hair and makeup on a daily basis for her jobs, she said that on the days that she has off she prefers to go bare-faced.

"I tend to not wear make-up on my off days. I am not complicated, I don't have tons of creams or anything like that. I stay simple," Heidi told Hollywood Life in March.

As far as her diet, she said everything in moderation except for alcohol.

"You drink a lot of water, exercise and eating healthy, not as many carbs and understand what food does to your body," she said of her eating habits after admitted that she "never really dieted. "You can have pasta sometimes, but not all the time. Moderation and juggling. Saying NO to a bunch of stuff people say YES to. It's hard. I don't drink a lot of alcohol, alcohol is bad! It has a lot of calories and is not good for the body."

Karlie Kloss, Irina Shayk and Isabella Rossellini's daughter Elettra Wiedemann are just some of the high-profile supermodels that went makeup-free for the 2013 photography book titled Natural Beauty. They posed for New York-based photographer James Houston and the 120-page book also featured Victoria's Secret model, Jessica Hart with her sister Ashley, Christy Turlington, Brooke Shields, Elle Macpherson, Emma Watson, Adrien Grenier and Anja Rubik.
