Jo Koy is hosting the 2024 Golden Globes this Sunday. But will he get paid for the gig?

Based on revelations by past hosts and previous reports, the 52-year-old comedian will likely be compensated for hosting this year's Golden Globes. The exact amount, however, is unknown as hosting fees can vary.

Last year, comedian Jerrod Carmichael revealed during his 2023 Golden Globes monologue that he was paid $500,000 to host the event -- a figure higher than typical compensation for such roles.

In 2013, Vanity Fair cited unnamed industry sources as saying that pay for awards shows "generally tops out in the low six figures."

However, Jimmy Kimmel claimed he received just $15,000 for hosting the Oscars in 2017 and 2018.

"It sounds like a lot for one night, but it's months of work leading up to it," the late-night host said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in 2022.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, $15,000 is the minimum pay negotiated by the actors' union SAG-AFTRA for hosts of the prestigious awards ceremony.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who hosted three consecutive Golden Globes from 2013 to 2015, previously denied rumors that they were paid $4 million each for the 2013 show, calling the figure "grossly exaggerated," according to Vanity Fair.

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards marks Koy's first appearance as a host for a major awards show.

Koy recently expressed his excitement for the hosting role, stating on "CBS Mornings" that he has been preparing non-stop since his gig was announced late last year.

"I've been binge-watching the whole time, just non-stop watching everything, every category, just watching everything," he shared.

The comedian is also the first to host the Golden Globes since Dick Clark Productions and holding company Eldridge took over the awards show's rights in June, separating it from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

The HFPA faced controversies related to diversity, prompting changes in the show's management.

Koy has four specials with Netflix and two more set to be released later this year, Variety reported.

He continues to tour, with upcoming dates across the United States and international stops in Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
