Authorities searched a storage unit registered to Aaron Hernandez' fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins, because they believe she made "overt attempts to hide evidence ... and to hinder and mislead" investigators.

The Hartford Courant obtained court documents in which investigators referenced surveillance video, text messages and interview with Jenkins' sister, Shaneah, that suggest Hernandez's fiancée may have information about the murder weapon used to kill Odin Lloyd. Shaneah was reportedly dating Lloyd before his death. Investigators did not confiscate any potential evidence from the storage unit during their July 26 search in Hernandez's hometown of Bristol, Conn.

Jenkins has not been charged in connection with Lloyd's death. But prosecutors said her fiancé orchestrated the murder, because he feared Lloyd would divulge information about a double murder in Boston, Hernandez was allegedly involved in back in 2012.

Hernandez called Jenkins the day after Lloyd's body was found, because he wanted to dispose of weapons in the house, according to the court documents. The records reveal that surveillance footage from June 18 showed Jenkins carrying a trash bag, which authorities claim contained a heavy "rigid object" that looked to be a lock box or safe. Jenkins put the bag in the trunk of a car and left the house she shared with Hernandez. She returned to the house later, but did not carry anything back inside the house.

Carlos Ortiz, one of the suspects charged in connection with the case, told police after the shooting that Hernandez hid two guns in the basement of his home in North Attleborough, Mass.
