In a world where In vitro fertilization (IVF) is commonplace, Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway revealed she has also experienced challenges with the process of trying to conceive.

During an interview with 'Vanity Fair,' Hathaway, 41, spoke candidly about the "pain" she felt when it came to "trying to get pregnant."

The 'Devil Wears Prada' star recollected her emotional state in 2019, elaborating on an Instagram post she shared that same year proudly flaunting a peeking baby bump.

"It's not for a movie...# 2," the actress teased.

"All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies," she began.

"Sending you extra love," she concluded in her heartfelt post.

"I know this is an old post, but it touched my heart to see you talk about this. Took almost 2 years of very intentional trying for us to get pregnant," a fellow Instagram user replied, opting to share their story. "We almost gave up and started adoption paperwork when it finally happened."

"Given the pain I felt while trying to get pregnant, it would've felt disingenuous to post something all the way happy when I know the story is much more nuanced than that for everyone," she told the publication.

While starring in the Off-Broadway show 'Grounded' in 2015, Hathaway revealed she experienced a miscarriage.

"The first time it didn't work out for me. I was doing a play and I had to give birth on stage every night," she recalls. "It was too much to keep it in when I was onstage pretending everything was fine."

In 2023, Hathaway celebrated her 11-year-anniversary with husband Adam Shulman. Hathaway and Shulman, 42, share two children together, Jack, 4, and Jonathan, 8.
