Jennifer Garner got candid about her parenting struggles.

The "Yes Day" actress is turning 52 years old next month. In a new interview with People ahead of her birthday, she talked about her three children -- Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12 -- whom she shares with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck.

"They're solid right now. I'm just watching them in this new phase of life where they're figuring out who they're going to be and what they're going to study. And I'm so interested in them. All the time, I'm interested in everything about them," Garner shared.

The "13 Going on 30" actress admitted that as a mom, it was difficult to let her kids make decisions on their own. She said that she was working on letting them live their lives while acknowledging how her parents did the same for her.

"I mean, my parents did too, and I'm so amazed by that. I have a really hard time not saying, 'This is what I see you as,' and 'I think you should,'" Garner continued. "I really have to sit on my hands."

Garner and Affleck's eldest child, Violet, turned 18 in December. Days before her birthday, the "Elektra" actress appeared on "Live with Kelly & Mark" and was asked about having an adult at home. The celebrity mom expressed her excitement and shared how Violet was in charge of her college process.

"It is exciting," the actress said. "I can see the stress -- even though the excitement and stress go hand in hand. But she's handling it like a champ, and she's totally in charge. I'm not having to say, 'Are you doing this, are you doing this?' She's a self-starter. And I'm just proud of her no matter what."

Garner and Affleck remain good friends following their divorce in 2018. In February, they were seen celebrating their son Samuel's 12th birthday together.

The exes took him to Disneyland in Los Angeles. Both dressed casually for the outing. Garner was seen holding hands with the birthday boy while strolling in the amusement park.

Earlier in the week, they also reunited to celebrate Samuel's birthday at his school. Garner and Affleck brought treats for their son and his classmates.
